Overview
The Terry Fox Research Institute (TFRI) will host a public dialogue on
Wednesday, May 12, 2010 in Vancouver as part of our 2nd Annual Scientific Meeting. The title of the dialogue is "Cancer: Let's Get Personal" and the theme for the West Coast discussion is "Are We Prepared for Personalized Medicine?" The event will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the
Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue at SFU's Vancouver campus.
The dialogue is the second in a series of Pan-Canadian dialogues the TFRI is holding this year to raise public awareness of and engagement in current regional issues in cancer care and research. The first dialogue was held on April 12th in St John's, Newfoundland with participation from researchers, clinicians, survivors and stakeholders from the Atlantic provinces.
The focus of the West Coast discussions will be on new technologies, whether and how we can afford them, and our choices and obligations. We have invited key health care professionals and cancer researchers from within our community to lead discussion topics. We will also engage cancer patients and survivors, the general public and regional stakeholders in the evening's conversation what is expected to be a very successful event.
How to participate
Participation in the Dialogue session is
free and open to the public; however, due to space limitations
all participants are required to reserve a seat using our online registration form. Individuals wishing to reserve more than one seat must fill out a complete registration form for
each person attending. Spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
