The Terry Fox Research Institute (TFRI) Translational Program provides support to collaborative clinical and scientific teams developing clinically relevant research at the early stages of translation – at the stage between discovery and early stage clinical trials. The Program supports well-defined, integrative and transformative areas of innovative cancer research with the potential to impact the health of cancer patients in the short to medium term. The Program will support a project that addresses a single translational cancer research question over a five-year period using a multi-centered, multi-disciplinary, milestone-driven team approach.
To accelerate the development of clinically relevant discoveries, knowledge and innovation for adoption by cancer control systems in Canada and around the world.
Support under this Strategic Opportunity is for Pan-Canadian, multidisciplinary programs of excellence that address a single clinically relevant cancer research question, and will support the development of evidence needed for innovation to be considered ready for adoption and implementation into the cancer control systems of Canada and elsewhere.
The Strategic Opportunity will support a program comprised of independent researchers at a minimum of three sites, in a minimum of three Canadian provinces and/or territories. Co-investment with partners is encouraged. Support is offered, commencing on July 1, 2016, for:
- New Program of up to $1,000,000 per annum for a maximum of five years.
