At 10,000 run sites, including schools and communities across the country on Sunday, September 13, 2009, thousands of Canadians -scientists and researchers among them -- will lace up their running shoes to celebrate Terry Fox and continue his legacy to raise money for cancer research. Terry began his Marathon of Hope in St. John's, Newfoundland on April 12, 1980. Over the past 29 years, The Terry Fox Foundation has raised more than $400 million for cancer research.
In May 2009, the Terry Fox Foundation national director Darrell Fox (shown in white shirt in photograph) led more than 30 scientists on an early-morning run along the seawall in Vancouver as part of the TFRI Inaugural Annual Scientific meeting. Above, the participating scientists gather for a photograph wearing the 2009 run T-shirt bearing Terry's image. Visit the Terry Fox Run web site at www.terryfox.org/Run to find a run near you or to make a donation for cancer research.
