To celebrate Terry’s incredible journey, we invite you to join TFRI's annual Terry Fox Run Challenge by registering for this year's Run on Sunday, September 14.
What is the Terry Fox Run Challenge?
Every year, Terry Fox-funded researchers across the country register their research teams for the Terry Fox Run and help fundraise for cancer research in Canada. The Terry Fox Run Challenge pits these teams against each other in a friendly competition to see who can raise the most money for cancer research. Over the years, this challenge has become a tradition among our research teams – alongside their families and friends – highlighting their dedication to finish what Terry started in 1980.
Over the last nine years of the Terry Fox Run Challenge, research teams have raised more than $1 million to invest back into cancer research in Canada!
Last year alone, teams from coast to coast raised $157,874, setting a new second-place record in the Terry Fox Run Challenge. We want to thank each and every one of you for helping us achieve Terry's goal of ending cancer through research, both in the lab and by fundraising for the Run.
We also want to recognize last year's research teams who made it onto the podium: The Vancouver Prostate Centre, raising $50,161, the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute's Cancer Research Program, raising $24,628, and the Terry Fox Research Institute’s headquarters team, raising $11,710.
In keeping with tradition, we’re setting an ambitious goal to beat last year's record, and possibly even beat 2022's all-time record of $196,966!
How to register for the 2024 Terry Fox Run Challenge
- Visit the team sign up page on the Terry Fox Foundation website, choose your run location and complete the process.
- To help identify TFRI, MOHCCN and DHDP research teams, please submit your team’s name as “TFRI - <team name>”, “MOHCCN - <team name>” or “DHDP - <team name>”.
- Share your team’s name with potential team members and invite them to register, join and start fundraising!
If you don’t have a team, you are welcome to join ours: “Terry Fox Research Institute” (formerly TFRI HQ).
“FINISH IT” represents our shared commitment to come together and finish what Terry started.
