Terry Fox researchers recognized for contributions to cancer research

Montreal – TFRI extends their congratulations to two Terry Fox-funded researchers who received awards at this week’s Canadian Cancer Research Conference in Montreal. Dr. Morag Park is the recipient of the award for Exceptional Leadership in Cancer Research, while Dr. Nahum Sonenberg is the recipient of the Outstanding Achievements in Cancer Research award.

Dr. Park has had a long association with Terry Fox-funded research projects and now leads the Program Project Grant studying metastatic breast cancer. Dr. Park is an accomplished researcher and has always emphasized the importance of supporting and encouraging young scientists.

Funding from the Terry Fox Foundation provided Dr. Sonenberg with his first cancer research grant in 1982. Now three decades later and Dr. Sonenberg’s contributions to the cancer research community have been acknowledged with numerous prizes and honours. He remains at the cutting edge of research and is part of the Terry Fox-funded Program Project Grant in oncolytic viruses.
