TFRI launches 2020 Terry Fox Run Challenge

The Terry Fox Research Institute (TFRI) has launched its 2020 Terry Fox Run Challenge, an annual event in which our research teams look to claim top honours by raising the most funds for cancer research.

Last year, a record-breaking 33 teams participated in the challenge, raising over $90,500 for cancer research. We hope the 2020 Terry Fox Run Challenge will repeat or exceed the tremendous results from last year!

2020: A special year

2020 is a very special year for the TFRI. In addition to it being the 40th Anniversary of Terry’s Marathon of Hope, it is also the year in which we will begin operationalizing our pan-Canadian precision medicine projects: the Marathon of Hope Cancer Centres Network and the Digital Health and Discovery Platform. These two projects, along with our ongoing investments in cancer research, will help to transform the Canadian cancer landscape, much like Terry’s run did 40 years ago.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Terry Fox Run will be held virtually for the first time in its history. A special theme One Day, Your Way! encourages participants to be creative with their run. Take a stroll around your neighbourhood, backyard, down the street or around the block, and consider taking lots of pictures and videos to show your support to cancer research.

While we will not come together in person, we will unite in spirit!

Researchers may register their own teams at http://www.terryfox.org/run/teams/. We'd also like to invite anyone to join or donate to the TFRI Headquarters team captained by Dr. Victor Ling and Marlene Manson.
